Clearhead for Therapists

Therapy sessions can be funded in multiple ways:

Your employer - your employer needs to partner with Clearhead to deliver EAP support.

ACC - You can filter for ACC registered therapists by using the “Funding Option” filter.

Who funds the therapy sessions? 

If your employer uses Clearhead to provide funded therapy for their employees. All you have to do is select the therapist you want and make a booking appointment request directly with the therapist. Just select the option "My employer will cover my therapy" and enter your employer details on the booking form. This usually means that your therapy session will be free and paid for by your employer. 

Clearhead will manage the payment to the therapist anonymously on behalf of your employer once we have confirmed that you meet our eligibility requirements. We will send you an email to confirm this.

How does the Clearhead for Business therapy scheme work, where my employer pays for my therapy? 

We have registered counsellors, psychologists, clinical psychologists, psychotherapists, art therapists, life coaches, mental health nurses and social workers. All Clearhead therapists are registered with a professional membership body.

What areas do your therapists specialise in?

Clearhead therapists are experts in a range of treatments. These range from simple, everyday exercises such as mindfulness and meditation to specialist therapies that include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and more.

What type of therapy is available? 

Clearhead is a paid therapy service. You can either pay for your sessions yourself, or, if your workplace is registered with Clearhead, they can pay for you.


The cost varies from $100 to $350 per hour depending on your  therapist. You can see each therapist’s rate on their profile.

How much does therapy cost? 

All of our therapists are currently registered with a New Zealand professional membership body. These include: 

NZ Psychologists Board Registered Psychologists (NZPB)

Psychotherapist Board of Aotearoa NZ Registered Psychotherapists (PBANZ)

Australian, New Zealand & Asian Creative Arts Therapies Association (ANZACATA)

NZ Christian Counsellors Association (NZCCA)

How are Clearhead therapists verified? 

You’ll receive an email once your therapist has confirmed your appointment. If your appointment request needs to be rescheduled, your therapist will get in touch with you directly.

How do I know if my therapy session has been confirmed? 

Clearhead provides therapy both in person and online, based on your preference. If you book an online therapy session, your therapist will contact you directly providing with a link to their preferred online session platform. This could be Zoom, Google Meets, phone call, etc.

Can I get online therapy?

You can still make a request for therapy. Just enter your preferred date and time date in the booking form. If you need help, you can email

What happens if my chosen therapist doesn't have any time available?

Let your therapist know that it’s free for them to join Clearhead’s therapist network. If they do, you can continue sessions with your chosen therapist and have it covered by your employer. You’ll also need your employer to partner with Clearhead to deliver wellbeing support.

What happens if I’m seeing a therapist who isn’t registered with Clearhead, but I want my appointments to be covered by my employer? 

Our booking system is very simple and user-friendly. However, if you are not comfortable using an online booking platform, then you can contact us on either

Can I get help to book a therapy session? 

You can change your therapist whenever you want, Clearhead has more than 250+ therapists that you can choose from.

Can I change therapists? 

We don’t collect payments for your therapy sessions. Your therapist will provide payment instructions. If therapy is funded by your employer, we will manage payments on your behalf.

If I’m self-funding my therapy, do I pay my therapist through Clearhead? 

Our booking system is designed to be user friendly and easy to operate.

You can filter therapists based on the help you want (I.e. to find an expert in dealing with Anxiety), or if you want to see them in person or online.
