What happens to my information that I share with you?
Maintaining your trust and privacy is extremely important to us, as such we have different mechanisms to ensure we keep your information secure.
  • Your data is yours and we do not sell any identifiable data to third parties.
  • We comply with the Ministry of Health's HISO 10029:2015 standard for data security and privacy.
  • Your data is encrypted using 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES-256).
  • To protect your data as it travels over the Internet, we use Transport Layer Security (HTTPS) for all communications.
  • Our platform is also hosted in data centers used by Microsoft and Google, these data centers are based in Sydney and have stringent security policies regarding access and are recommended by the New Zealand Ministry of Health.
  • We also ensure regular security audits occur.
  • Finally, we are a New Zealand company meaning unlike most other internet companies we follow and abide the New Zealand Privacy Act 1993 and the Health Information Privacy Code 1994.
How do I book therapy / counselling appointments with a therapist on Clearhead?
Head to our Find a Therapist page: https://www.clearhead.org.nz/practitioners.

You can filter based on specialities you are looking for e.g. Anxiety. As well as whether you want to see them in person or online. Learn more about each therapist by clicking on their individual profiles. You can then see their real-time availability and request an available appointment directly on their individual profile page.
How much does it cost to see a therapist on Clearhead?
The therapists you see on Clearhead have to be self-funded and are not free. Except when your employer is part of Clearhead's therapy scheme where they pay for their employees therapy appointments.

The charges vary from $60 to $350 per hour depending on the individual therapist. You will have to click on each individual therapist's page to see their pricing. If you can afford private therapy or your employer pays for your therapy, then check out https://www.clearhead.org.nz/practitioners.

If you are not able to self-fund your therapy the following are some free options:
  • Call the government's mental health helpline at 1737, there are trained counsellors on the phone and it is free and available 24/7.
  • See your GP to get access to free therapy if you meet the criteria for publicly funded therapy.
How does the Clearhead for Business therapy scheme work, where my employer pays for my therapy?
If your employer uses Clearhead to provide funded therapy for their employees. All you have to do is select the therapist you want and make a booking appointment request directly with the therapist. Don't forget to select the check box "My employer will pay for my therapy" and enter your employer details on the booking form. This usually means that your therapy session will be free and paid for by your employer.

Clearhead will manage the payment to the therapist anonymously on behalf of your employer once we have determined you meet our eligibility requirements. We will send you an email to confirm this.

Is there any cost to joining your platform as a user?
It is free to join Clearhead, with most of our features free to use. We will clearly let you know the price of any features that are not free and you can then choose if you would like to proceed or not.
Are the therapists on Clearhead qualified?
Clearhead follows strict guidelines about the therapists we accept onto our database and they must be currently registered to one of the following professional bodies:
  • NZ Psychologists Board registered psychologists (NZPB)
  • Psychotherapist Board of Aotearoa NZ registered psychotherapists (PBANZ)
  • Australian, New Zealand & Asian Creative Arts Therapies Association (ANZACATA)
  • NZ Association of Counsellors member (NZAC)
  • NZ Christian Counsellors Association member (NZCCA)
Where are you based?
We are a proud New Zealand owned company and our team is based in Auckland.
Do you have any mental health experts on your team?
Our CEO and co-founder is a medical doctor and we collaborated closely with Psychiatrist, GPs, Psychologists and users of mental health services throughout the design and implementation of the platform.

We also have a clinical psychologist on the team and a clinical advisory board that comprises of psychiatrists and GPs.
