I work as a counsellor from my consulting rooms in central Dunedin. I’ve been fortunate to know many people through friendships and work, first as a journalist and now as a qualified therapist. Often, people feel anxious or confused at different times in life. Friends, family and colleagues can help, and sometimes it’s useful to talk with an independent, understanding professional who is there just for you. I work with most life issues including anxiety, burnout, transitions, depression, substance use, relationships, self-esteem, grief and loss, goal-setting and decision making. Confidential sessions are tailored to your needs and aspirations, and many people find that just a few meetings are enough to bring about permanent change. I have experience in brief Intervention, specialising in anxiety, which shows itself in emotional or behavioural patterns that can be a barrier to professional and personal success. Worry and fear can affect the brain, often resulting in habits that have helped us through tough times but do not serve us in the longer term. Lasting change comes when we can leave behind these outmoded ways, creating space to grow and thrive each day.
