Jayne Hubble (Psychotherapist) and Dr Ali Begg (GP) will be co-facilitating a Peer Support Group for doctors on Mondays from 12.30pm-1.30pm. The Facilitated Peer Support Groups are designed to offer doctors support via their peers, with the facilitators there to allow the group to work well together. These groups are designed for personal and professional support and development rather than as mental health treatment or diagnosis. At this stage, these peer support groups are only eligible for NZ medical doctors. Facilitator Jayne Bio: Jayne Hubble, MNZAP, PBANZ, BSANZ Jayne is a registered psychotherapist (MNZAP 1993), and Balint Group Leader. Her private practice provides mainly individual psychotherapy, and she is also involved in the supervision and teaching of psychiatric registrars with the CDHB. She leads a 4 weekly Balint Group which began in 2018. It is made up of both psychotherapists and doctors. She finds the Group setting a rich opportunity for collegiality, and for reflecting on and learning about oneself, one’s work and the challenges with both. Facilitator Ali Bio: Dr Ali Begg FRNZCGP, MANZPA. Ali is a Christchurch GP who sold her practice after 15 years to work part time and develop her interest in group work. Qualifying as a psychodramatist led to working as a medical educator for the GP education programme and tutoring medical students. She is an accredited Balint group leader (BSANZ) currently co-leading 2 x 4 weekly groups with a psychotherapist colleague. She also does individual supervision sessions. She enjoys working to improve the quality of GP’s relationships with patients, their work and themselves.
