Biography

Let’s face it, life is challenging! There are times when we feel overwhelmed by the struggles endured or that are ongoing causing emotional distress. I believe through healing and finding solutions to challenges you are facing, I can support you in this therapeutic journey to help with enhancing your wellness. I provide a confidential, safe and non-judgmental environment. My focus is you, to listen to you and to develop a trusting therapeutic relationship with you. Using techniques to support self-awareness and to develop skills and strategies, I help to provide insights into lifelong patterns of behaviour, look at underlying issues, find ways to resolve them and support you move onto a more confident fruitful life. Here's a little bit about me : My ancestors are from India. I was born in Waikato, NZ however grew up in Fiji Islands. I moved back to NZ and studied Neuroscience at Otago University after which I worked as a researcher at the Auckland University. As counselling has always been my passion, I went on to study counselling and completed my placement at Shakti (NGO). I am a full registered member with the New Zealand Association of Counsellors. Currently I work with children, adolescents, adults and young families. Growing up in a multicultural Pasifika environment and having strong ties with New Zealand, Fiji and India, I can connect and understand the culture and traditions of many diverse ethnicities and extended family dynamics. I believe I am culturally competent and sensitive and have a deep understanding of the migrant and immigrant issues across generations.
