Mandy has almost 30 years’ experience in working with Couples, Individuals and Families in various Public, and Corporate settings; and in Private Practice. She has worked in mental health services in the UK and New Zealand since 2001 and has extensive experience in supervision and training; including lecturing on the post graduate Diploma in Systemic therapies at Otago University. Mandy specialises in working with couples having marital/relationship and communication difficulties, blended/step-family issues and parenting challenges, loss & bereavement, mental health and addiction challenges. She is skilled and experienced in working with distressing and challenging relationship difficulties in an honest and collaborative manner. Mandy practices Systemic Therapy, a relational model that explores what goes on between people in terms of relationships and interactions; as a way of understanding their distress and difficulties. This approach can help improve communication and relationships so that partner’s or family members can understand one another better and work together to make changes. Systemic therapy builds on people's strength and commitment to resolve their difficulties and as a therapist, Mandy works alongside individuals, couples and families to create a way of working that is most helpful to them in making the changes they want for their future. Mandy is also trained in Family Based Treatment for Eating Disorders, Gottman Couples Therapy (Level 1), ACT, and Trauma Based practice with children and young people.Mandy has been a registered member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (since 2007).
