Biography

I have been working in the Bay of Plenty region for the last twenty years as a Social Worker/ Family Therapist/Group facilitator /Tertiary Lecturer and Professional Supervisor. My expertise lie in working alongside Families /whanau ,children and couples and also young people displaying a wide range of complex behavioural, relational and mental health issues that may be getting in the way of them being where they would like /need to be. I am interested in relationships and why people do what they do and how this affects those around them. I work in a very practical, strength based manner. I am trained in Multi systemic therapy and Functional Family Therapy. I also have been trained in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy which focuses on attachment and trauma in young people’s lives and how those closest to them can support them moving forward. My point of difference I believe is that I can draw on the many years of experience and the different approaches I have been trained in and get alongside, some of the most complex families/whanau that present to services for support. I believe that a huge factor in supporting our clients is in working with all the family members that are part of the system in which the young person is in. Also working alongside other professionals collectively to find positive outcomes is crucial.
