Biography
Kia ora. I offer in person counselling in Kāpiti or online counselling throughout New Zealand to adults and adolescents. I offer a non-judgmental, safe and respectful space to explore the issues you bring, respecting your values, beliefs and uniqueness. I am flexible in my approach, which is individualised for you depending on your current needs. I work in a client centred, collaborative way where we meet together as equals working to satisfy the outcome that you desire. We will work together and at a pace that works for you enabling you to heal and move forward to your wholeness - of what is already there. I believe that we can find solutions to your difficulties using the strength and resources that you have within you. Although I have worked with a wide variety of cultural backgrounds, I have predominately been with European, Pākehā, Māori, Pacific Islanders and people who identify with the rainbow community. I aim to work in a culturally sensitive manner and receive ongoing clinical supervision to enable this and to respect your values, beliefs and uniqueness. I completed my counselling training in 2012. In addition to my private practice, I work for a non-profit organisation that provides therapy to all women and children with a broad range of issues including family violence. I have counselled people from age 12yrs to in there late 70’s. I abide by the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC) Te Roopu Kaiwhiriwhiri o Aotearoa Code of Ethics and have regular supervision which supports me to work in a safe and ethical manner. About Me I bring many years of life experience to my counselling and professional work along with ongoing personal and professional development. I strongly believe in continuing personal and professional growth. I am currently enrolled in Hakomi (body centred mindful somatic psychotherapy) training at the Hakomi Institute of New Zealand.
