Biography

As part of life, we all run into unexpected surprises, stresses, and losses. Our relationships, our work, our health change. We change. These transitions can have an impact on our feelings, creating sometimes physical problems and/or impairing our ability to cope. It is hard to seek professional support, so you being here probably means that feeling out of control has become even harder. Choosing to work through issues on therapy is a sign of strength and courage. As your therapist, I am committed to supporting you, and will work cooperatively with you to identify helpful ways to achieve your goals, so that you can live life with integrity and quality. Sometimes it is about learning to cope, other times it is about problem-solving and finding better ways to communicate your needs. Or it may be about identifying bad habits, toxic relationships, or a wrong direction and creating change. My experience of therapy is that good communication and transparency leads to successful outcomes. So, I work hard to create a safe and secure atmosphere for clients. Being engaged and active in this process means we can work together to establish changes in ways you never thought possible. I am a qualified Psychologist and Specialist Couple & Family Therapist with over 15 years of experience working in mental health, both in the United Kingdom and Brazil. I have moved recently to Cambridge, New Zealand, where I continue working in my private practice with both online and face-to-face sessions. While I have a large base of knowledge on therapeutic issues, I am passionate about my work, and invested in always finding new and better ways to help people heal and grow in ways they never thought possible. For over a decade I worked for mental health services within the National Health Service (UK), specially with individuals and families of young people and adults struggling with Eating Disorders. I have worked with a wide variety of client groups across different ages, cultures, life cycle stages, and clinical severity. Some of the difficulties I can help you with include: - Relationships and couple difficulties; - Family conflicts (including communication patterns and life cycle transitions – birth, loss, separation); - Parenting and co-parenting support; - Managing challenging behaviour, including child aggression towards others; - Eating Disorders; - Intense and difficult feelings, such as sadness, anger, depression, anxiety; - Unhelpful or unhealthy patterns of behaviour. I am available for FACE TO FACE sessions in Cambridge, Waikato, ONLINE THERAPY, as well as supervisions and consultations in both English and Portuguese. Online sessions are an incredible resource, especially if you find it difficult to commute and travel for appointments for any reason, or need appointments outside usual working hours.
