Biography
Yvonne is qualified as a Doctor of Clinical Psychology and is registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board. She has worked for specialist DHB mental health services in New Zealand and for private practice clinics in Australia. Prior to qualifying as a clinical psychologist, she worked as a solicitor for private law firms in New Zealand. Yvonne brings to her work with clients a direct knowledge and understanding about the stressors of high-pressure work environments. Yvonne has experience working with people of various demographic groups in relation to a wide range of psychological difficulties. She works with people who need help navigating current challenges so that they can refocus on achieving broader life goals. Yvonne’s approach is to equip people with well researched psychological concepts and tools which are specifically relevant to their current needs, thereby building on their personal strengths and resilience. Yvonne aims to provide a safe and compassionate space for individuals to explore their thoughts and emotions and to make sense of their psychological distress. Her style is respectful and non-judgmental, but also honest and thought-provoking. Working flexibly and collaboratively with her clients is important to her. The hope is that clients will feel empowered by what they learn about themselves in therapy and that these insights will translate into real life changes.
